Help UCD Build a Healthier Community with PlayStreets

We are thrilled to announce that on Tuesday, December 2, University City received an IMPACT Award from GSK US. As a winner, we’ve been invited to participate in an additional GSK US #GivingTuesday challenge to answer the question, “How would you use $10,000 to build a healthier community?"

If we won an additional $10,000 we would use the money for PlayStreets, a spirited new intervention to create active, outdoor play space, while increasing public health and safety for the University City community. Play Streets, pioneered in New York City, close streets to local traffic, reclaiming them for children to engage in safe, creative play. Activities can range from structured sports and programs to informal opportunities for play such as jump rope, bike and scooter riding, pick-up soccer and street chalk drawing.

So, where would you like to see PlayStreets in University City? How would you use them? Tell us below!
