UCD, in partnership with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Friends of Clark Park, will bring three weeks of free outdoor movies to help liven up summer nights in West Philadelphia. Beautiful Clark Park (43rd and Chester Ave) will transform into an outdoor amphitheater to showcase a great lineup of films projected on a giant for the entire family to enjoy.

The Clark Park Movie Series will run on Friday nights from August 26th through September 9th with screenings beginning at dusk. Audience members are invited to bring chairs or blankets for the films, and can enjoy food and dessert offerings from a rotating list of vendors.

  • August 26th: Finding Nemo
    • In this family-friendly flick from Pixar, Marlin, a clown fish, is overly cautious with his son, Nemo. When Nemo swims too close to the surface to prove himself, he is caught by a diver, and horrified Marlin must set out to find him. A blue reef fish named Dory -- who has a really short memory -- joins Marlin and complicates the encounters with sharks, jellyfish, and a host of ocean dangers.
  • September 2nd: Creed
    • Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) never knew his famous father, boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died before Adonis was born. However, boxing is in his blood, so he seeks out Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and asks the retired champ to be his trainer. Rocky sees much of Apollo in Adonis, and agrees to mentor him. With Rocky's help, Adonis soon finds success in the ring, but whether he has the true heart of a fighter remains to be seen.
  • September 9th: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
    • Thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy faces a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren and the First Order. When a defector named Finn crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey, a tough scavenger whose droid contains a top-secret map. Together, the young duo joins forces with Han Solo to make sure the Resistance receives the intelligence concerning the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, the last of the Jedi Knights.
