University City remains a hot spot to open a new business. Here's a short sampling of some of the businesses that have opened their doors in the past six months. 

Name: 48th Street Grille

Location: 310 S 48th Street

About: 48th Street Grille is a full-service restaurant and catering business offering fresh, modern Caribbean-American cuisine in West Philadelphia. Chef Carl Lewis hopes to give locals an affordable, full-service neighborhood restaurant. Location: 4542 Baltimore Ave

About: 8 Limbs Academy is a Modern Martial Arts school that offers Muay Thai Kickboxing classes to people of every age, shape, size and physical ability.  - About: This expansion of the national chain has opened in the University City Science Center. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Corner Bakery offers more than 100 made-to-order combos under 600 calories. About: Founded in 2010, United by Blue is an outdoor apparel store and coffee shop driven by the idea of associating the sale of each product with a concrete environmental action. For every product sold, United By Blue removes one pound of trash from oceans and waterways through company organized and hosted cleanups. The venue also uses flat-pricing for drinks and employs a "no-tip" policy, instead relying on service charges of 20% to the bill.
