State of University City

On Monday, September 19, University City District celebrated the release of The State of University City 2011. Held at University City's World Café Live, the event featured remarks from University of Pennsylvania executive vice president Craig Carnaroli, Drexel University president John Fry, and The Wistar Institute Cancer Center's Dario Altieri. In addition, UCD executive director Matt Bergheiser discussed the neighborhood's unprecedented progress, especially within the fields of science and innovation, and the commercial and real estate sectors. He also showcased recent UCD projects and plans such as the innovative West Philadelphia Skills Initiative and UCD's commitment to the as-yet-to-be-named next great public space outside of Amtrak's 30th Street Station.
