DOCK STREET BREWING CO.
Brewers of Unpasteurized, Unfiltered, All Natural Artisanal Ales & Lagers
Founded in 1985, Dock Street Brewing Co. was the first microbrewery in Philadelphia and one of the first in the country. After a few years brief interruption, it reopened August 2007 in a magnificent historic firehouse on the corner of 50th and Baltimore Ave., in a progressive, eclectic and counter-culture neighborhood that reflects Dock Street's philosophy. Dock Street has a rich brewing history, a reputation for exceptional quality, for innovation and for brewing distinctive beers. Today, Dock Street continues to experiment and push the boundaries of the Craft Brewing movement which it helped create. Dock Street is a small artisanal brewery whose selections include the respected RyeIPA, the complex, crisp, and clean Bohemian Pilsner, the Sudan Grass Ale and the Bubbly Wit made with champagne yeast. Recent additions are Man Full of Trouble Porter (ABV 5.5), Prince Myshkin Russian Imperial Stout (ABV 9.5%) and one of brewer Ben Potts’ favorite, Hop Garden Double IPA (ABV 9%)
DOCK STREET RESTAURANT
At the heart of the brewpub is the oldest method of cooking- a wood fired oven. It combines Rosemarie Certo’s love of delicious freshly brewed craft beers with handmade quality wood burning oven gourmet pizzas such as the Fig Jam Pizza, the Margherita, and Flammenkuche. Also on the menu is Dock Street beer battered Fish and Chips, Trio Fries, Vegan entrees, Rotisserie Chicken (no hormones or antibiotics) and hamburgers made with meat from locally raised cattle that are fed Dock Street brewery spent grains. This meat is also free of hormone and antibiotics. Dock Street supports many grass roots art and music projects as well as local and regional non-profit organizations.
