Looking for some free fun?

The 40th Street Summer Series is a warm-weather staple in University City, and this Saturday, July 25 from 5 to 8 p.m., the folks behind the programming are kicking it up a notch by hosting the 40th Street Summer Festival, which will fill the green at 40th and Walnut streets with a ton of carnival-style family-friendly fun.

Spend the evening grooving to live music by Mixed People, a local band, with Red Cedar Strings and Au Jus. Beyond music, guests of the carnival-style party can look forward to live performances by fire dancers, jugglers, tight-rope walkers, puppeteers, hula hoopers and more.

Interactive activities like a percussion workshop, martial arts lessons and a mask-making craft will round out the fun.

Ben and Jerry’s and Philadelphia Pretzel Company will be at the festival serving free ice cream and pretzels while supplies last.

All aspects of this festival are completely free — count us in!
