The Art Blog: Goodbye to Gary Steuer, Bridgette Mayer benefit, University City District heats up, opportunities and more!

It’s 40th Street Summer Series time once again. This year’s attractions at University City’s free outdoor performance series, scheduled for the last Saturdays in June to September, include the Heavens Atheist Gospel Trombone Choir, the Philadelphia Ukulele Orchestra, the Millennial Territory Orchestra (performing the music of Sly and The Family Stone), Spaceship Aloha (featuring Man Man’s Chris Powell), and The Heavens. All concerts are held behind the Walnut Street Free Library at 40th and Walnut Streets, beginning at 6pm. If you need further inducement, complimentary (first come, first served) Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and pretzels are given out during the performances.
