2009 FESTIVAL FEATURES PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES INDOORS AND OUT!

PHILADELPHIA, PA – March 27 – Looking for an educational – and affordable! – way to entertain the whole family this Spring? Look no further than the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, when PENN PRESENTS celebrates the 25th anniversary of The PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL with a jam-packed week full of live indoor performances and free outdoor activities from Tuesday, April 28 – Saturday, May 2. The fun kicks off at 10am on Tuesday, April 28 at The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, 3680 Walnut Street.

Founded in 1985 by Catherine Marshall, the International Children’s Festival was the first of its kind in the country, aiming to provide Philadelphia area families with an easy and affordable way to experience the artistry of international performance and visual arts.  Attracting more than 15,000 children and their families each year, the eagerly anticipated springtime tradition also aims to build the arts and culture audiences of the future. That goal remains the same this year, as PENN PRESENTS welcomes a veritable feast of performers – from two Grammy Award winners to a Jazz education musical group, and even a Very Hungry Caterpillar – to help celebrate this momentous 25th anniversary.

This year’s Children’s Festival encompasses five days filled with inexpensive and creative indoor live performances (this year, no single performance exceeds $10), as well as FREE interactive outdoor arts, crafts and activities for children (and parents!) of all ages.
