Michael Schulson’s food truck and booze wagon are now set up at the Porch next to 30th Street Station. Rotisserie at the Porch will serve lunch seven days a week. Wednesday through Saturday, a beverage trailer will offer beer and liquor from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. On those days, the Rotisserie at the Porch will serve food till 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday lunch will be served til 2 p.m.

The Porch 2.0 solidifies an experiment to breathe life into what was a parking lot next to 30th Street Station. The University City District teamed with Groundswell Design Group and Gehl Studio to enhance the space with new planters, seating and lighting. The UCD also partnered with Michael Schulson as the food purveyor.

The addition of Schulson means the end of the rotating food trucks that were a staple of the Porch 1.0. A change that hasn't sat well with some food truck purveyors and nearby workers. But what the University City District gives up in variety it gets in consistency. The Rotisserie truck will be there seven days a week, no matter the weather, without catering conflicts, and hopefully without any engine trouble. A UCD spokesperson points out that the district hosts food trucks throughout University City and will feature trucks later this season at the Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll and the new movie series in Clark Park.

As for Schulson's food truck, the focal point is the rotisserie grill. On that he's roasting a porchetta that he serves with spicy mayo and baguette. Also from the spit is a roasted lamb sandwich served with mint, ranch dressing and cucumber. Snacks and salads range from $3 to $7, plates range from $8 to $10.

For drinks, the beverage cart offers three drafts and another three cans. Specialty cocktails are also available.
