This week, Philly’s food events lay low until Thursday, July 16, but the wait is worth it.

We have a restaurant week special in University City, a Belgian brew special with Duvel, and a summer favorite – a hot dog competition.

Take part in any (or all) of these 5 food events.

On Thursday, July 16, treat your thirst needs at Dilworth Park (1 S. 15th St.) during Rhythms at Rosa Blanca. The café will offer $5 beers, $6 wines, and $7 cocktails from 5 to 7 p.m. Best part, besides the drinks, is the live tunes are free!

From Thursdays through Saturdays during July, Lotus Farm to Table (112 W. State St., Media) offers a hearty special featuring a rotating craft brew paired with three sliders. This week, diners can enjoy Yards Brawler paired with grass-fed beef burger sliders that are topped with wasabi aioli, red onion jam, swiss, bacon, and house-made ranch-flavored chips. The offer is from 5 to 9 p.m.

Philly gets another weeklong dining special as University City Dining Days returns on Thursday, July 16. Until Sunday, July 26, restaurant-goers can feast on three courses priced at $15, $25, and $35. Some participating locations include: City Tap House (3925 Walnut St.), Dock Street Brewery (701 S. 50th St.), White Dog Cafe (3420 Sansom St.), Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House (3432 Sansom St.), and Distrito (3945 Chestnut St.). The full list is here

Cheese crawl alert! In honor of Belgian Independence Day, Duvel Moortgat teams up with DiBruno Bros. and the Foodery for four days of boozy pairings. You have four chances to try three cheese pairings that complement Duvel Golden Ale, Ommegang Belgian Independence Day, and Duvel Tripel Hop. If you love the pairings, the stores are selling a gift pack that features two specialty beers and glassware. The dates are: Saturday, July 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Center City Foodery (324 South 10th St.); Sunday, July 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Northern Liberties Foodery (837 North 2nd St.); Monday, July 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Roxborough Foodery (6148 Ridge Ave.); and Tuesday, July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rittenhouse Foodery (1710 Sansom St.).

On Saturday, July 18, 20 local restaurants around Philadelphia fire up their grills for the fifth annual Dog Days of Summer hot dog competition. Guests will be able to sample unlimited franks made with specialty ingredients and toppings. The event is from 1 to 4 p.m.; beer is provided, too.
