UWISHUNU: University City District’s 40th Street Summer Series Continues With Brass Band The Heavens Atheist Gospel Trombone Choir, Saturday, July 27

Friday, July 26, 2013

This summer, music fans have little occasion to miss out on cool concerts with the scores of free tunes on tap throughout the season.

One of more than a dozen recurring outdoor concert series, the 40th Street Summer Series concerts bring merry music to University City with a lineup of free shows monthly through September.

The once-a-month series continues this Saturday, July 27, with trombone player extraordinaire and dynamic composer Jacob Garchik and his group The Heavens Atheist Gospel Trombone Choir, a brass ensemble playing Garchik’s trombone suite here in Philly before traveling to play in Lincoln Center’s summer concert series.

The free concert also includes festive activities and giveaways for both kids and adults like fire artists, face painting, jugglers, balloon art and more.

Plus, be on the look out for complimentary (first come, first served) Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and pretzels to be handed out during the performance.

All concerts take place on the green behind the Walnut Street Free Library at 40th and Walnut streets, begin at 6 p.m. and are totally free.

Additional upcoming concerts include Spaceship Aloha on August 31 and Millennial Territory Orchestra on September 28.
