UNIVERSITY CITY DINING DAYS OFFERS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE FROM JULY 14-28

(Philadelphia, PA) – It’s no secret that University City is home to some of the most innovative and diverse dining options in the region. From exceptional craft beer bars to celebrity chef restaurants to sidewalk tables at cozy spots featuring dishes from India, Ethiopia, Vietnam and beyond, University City has become a true dining destination. And, the crowds continue to praise and return to experience the neighborhood’s burgeoning restaurant scene.

Expanded to two weeks last year due to its overwhelming popularity, University City Dining Days presented by Wells Fargo returns this year from Thursday, July 14 to Thursday, July 28. Twenty-nine of University City’s most popular dining destinations – including newcomers Biba Wine Bar (from the owners of Tria), JG Domestic (Iron Chef Jose Garces’ most recent restaurant) and Baby Blues BBQ - are now preparing for the 6th annual University City Dining Days.  During Dining Days, the numbers of patrons increases by more than 50% at participating restaurants, so reservations are strongly encouraged.

The participating restaurants will offer a pre-fixe three-course dinner special for $15, $25 or $30. This “3 courses, 3 prices” approach best highlights University City’s diverse and international culinary options. The discounted, set price points make it affordable to dine at a new location every night of the event, leaving your curiosity – and taste buds – replete and your wallet full. Prices are for dinner only and do not include tax, gratuity or alcohol, and reservations should be made directly through the participating restaurant. Thousands of happy diners have descended on University City throughout the years for Dining Days, selling out reservations at many of the participating restaurants. Visit www.ucdiningdays.com for more information and for downloadable menus. Dining Days drives traffic to University City restaurants during typically slow periods while introducing new customers to the neighborhood’s exciting and ever-growing dining scene.

University City Dining Days is produced by University City District and sponsored by AroundPhilly, AYC Media, Ben FM, Campus Philly, Center City Proprietors Association, Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, Grid Magazine, Jewish Exponent, Philadelphia CityPaper, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia Weekly, PhillyFunGuide.com, Philly Homegrown, UCNet, UCReview, University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania Parking Services, Where Magazine, and WMGK.

The University City District was founded in 1997 by a consortium of organizations in the University City area of West Philadelphia. Historically, UCD has leveraged the power of its institutional partners to foster positive change in the community it serves. For its first twelve years of operation, UCD’s focus was commercial revitalization and quality of life, emphasizing public safety, public space maintenance, planning, economic development, capital improvements, and marketing and promoting the District’s attractions and amenities. In 2009, UCD’s board recognized that increasingly, the place-making activities of community development organizations will focus on talent development and economic opportunity. The result was the formal establishment of the West Philadelphia Skills Initiative, which creates infrastructure to support systemic change in the relationship between major employers and place-based workforce institutions.
