Neighborhood Initiatives

The Neighborhood Initiatives program strives to enhance the quality of life in University City by working with the community to identify priority initiatives that will improve the physical appearance of the area and encourage economic investment. The priorities of the program have been established by a series of public surveys and open community forums.

The University City District has worked to transform the physical environment to help our community capitalize on its remarkable architectural and community assets. Our projects have included retail façade improvements, tree planting and planters, the installation of bike racks and trash cans, and other streetscape enhancements that add to the aesthetic value of the area. In addition, UCD is working to install pedestrian lighting, murals, and implement improvements to Clark Park—a nine-acre neighborhood park in University City.
