In an effort to reach out to the more than 45,000 young people in University City, University City District has created youcie, a young friends group.

Youcie members are diverse individuals who are committed to University City’s uniqueness, growth and vitality. Youcie events allow members to connect, interact with and explore University City’s diverse cultural, social, and community service offerings. The programming is a mix of sophisticated contemporary cultural and recreational events driven by the energy and uniqueness of University City. Members enjoy happy hours, special invitations to openings, previews and screenings, and other social and community events.

Membership is free and open to those 21 years and older who wish to engage in exciting programming with other like-minded students and professionals.

Join YOUCIE for a "Gelato Cocktail Social" at Capogiro in University City on Thursday, September 16. YOUCIE members will enjoy special-priced $6 gelato cocktails. Capogiro gelato cocktails are made with fresh, local ingredients - from vine ripened produce and Pennsylvania dairy products to Bluecoat Gin, Penn 1681 Vodka and Vieux Carre Absinthe from Philadelphia Distilling. Youcie “Double feature” with City Tap House and the Philadelphia Film Festival

Thursday, October 14
5:30-7PM: Beer and food tastings at City Tap House
7:30PM: Show time! The Philadelphia Film Festival opening night film screening at the Annenberg Center

Join YOUCIE in the tasting room at City Tap House for a delicious sampling of our favorite appetizers paired with a flight of four beers (4-6 oz each) specially selected by the Tap House beer steward. We will learn how each beer pairs with the selected foods. Following the tasting, guests will head over to Annenberg Center for reserved seats for the opening film of the 2010 Philadelphia Film Festival (film still TBD but it will not disappoint!). Tickets are $45 and include appetizers and beer flight at City Tap House (inclusive of tax and tip) and one movie ticket to the Festival’s opening film (tickets only valid October 14).
