Fall is a beautiful time of year in University City, and there are plenty of local events to help get you in the autumnal spirit! Whether you're seeking spooky thrills or other seasonal fun, there are plenty of local events popping up through the neighborhood to enjoy! Update: All pumpkins have been claimed, but we may have extras available for walk-up picking. Join us for a Portal Pumpkin Patch to celebrate fall! UCD invites you to Trolley Portal Gardens on Wednesday, October 20, starting at 4:30 pm to pick your own pumpkin in our Portal Pumpkin Patch. Free pumpkin decorating will be available onsite until 6:30 PM, as well as refreshments for sale from Renata's Kitchen. On Saturday, October join the Friends of Clark Park for the 2021 edition of their Party in the Park: Parktoberfest! After a long hiatus, this free annual event hosted by Friends of Clark Park returns as a way to celebrate the season in Clark Park with all your friends and neighbors. It is also a great time to meet the team, let them know what you think, and renew your membership. The event will feature a beer garden presented by Dock Street Brewery and food trucks to help meet your cravings. As always, there will be local live music and fun events to keep the whole family entertained! 

 


 

Our friends from The Woodlands are offering three opportunities to enjoy their grounds this October! What better place to celebrate Halloween than in a historic cemetery that's also a National Historic Landmark? 

  • On Friday, October 15th BYO chairs, blankets, picnics, and beverages for an After Hours Member Night featuring a spooky outdoor concert by the Philadelphia Viola Quartet. Click here for tickets.
  • On Sunday, October 24th, enjoy their FREE Halloween Family Fun Day digital Halloween-themed self-guided tour, All Hallow’s Read, and performances by Tangle Movement Arts and Karen Smith’s “Spiritual Atmospheric Cleansing.” Click here for tickets.
  • The spookiest party of the year is back! Head to the Woodlands on Thursday, October 28th for their Members Halloween Cocktail Party, featuring cocktails and light snacks. This event is for members only! Learn more and become a member here.

 

Don't miss a fiendish fundraiser on October 29th! Join Shakespeare in Clark Park for an evening of the Bard’s spookiest scenes starring…YOU! Sign up for a chance to join stars from past SCP shows up on stage to show off your acting chops as a witch, a ghost, or a sprite. No rehearsal, no pressure, but plenty of applause and encouragement. Not interested in performing? The folks at Dock Street West have planned some fun and festive events this October. 

  • On Thursday, October 21st from 8 - 10 PM, guests 21 and over are invited to a pumpkin carving and painting at Dock Street. Purchase a large pumpkin for $35 or a medium pumpkin for $28, watch spooky movies on a big screen, and enjoy a complimentary beer or cocktail plus all the tools and supplies you'll need. Tickets can be purchased here. 
  • On Wednesday, October 27th from 7-9 PM, Dock Street will host three astrologers for psychic, tarot card, and astrology readings. Enjoy drinks and pizza and then visit the astrologers and be ready to pay with Venmo. RSVP here.

 


Wear your best costume to Booker's on Sunday, October 31st to enjoy Sunday jazz, a complimentary tasting of a Courvoisier cocktail, and the final day of our University City Dining Days promotion!
