Black Panther

FRIDAY, AUGUST 6TH AT SUNDOWN

It's WAKANDA FOREVER in Clark Park! Join us as we kick off our 2021 Movies in Clark Park series with Black Panther, the smash hit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after rain forced us to cancel our planned screening in 2018. Black Panther tells the tale of T'Challa, the King of Wakanda, as he rises to the throne in the isolated, technologically advanced African nation, but must battle when his claim is challenged by a threatening outsider.

This film is rated PG-13 for violence and language. Runtime 2 hours and 14 minutes. RSVP here

The Iron Giant

FRIDAY, AUGUST 20TH AT SUNDOWN

Bring the whole family out to enjoy the overlooked 1999 cartoon masterpiece The Iron Giant! In this animated adaptation of Ted Hughes' Cold War fable from Oscar-winning director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille), a giant alien robot crash-lands near the small town of Rockwell, Maine, in 1957. Exploring the area, a local 9-year-old boy, Hogarth, discovers the robot, and soon forms an unlikely friendship with him. When a paranoid government agent becomes determined to destroy the robot, Hogarth and beatnik Dean McCoppin must do what they can to save the misunderstood machine.

This film is rated PG for mild language and fantasy action. Runtime 1 hour and 30 minutes. RSVP on Facebook here.

Concrete Cowboy

FRIDAY, AUGUST 27TH AT SUNDOWN

Watch Philadelphia on the big screen as we present the 2020 film Concrete Cowboy! Based on the book Ghetto Cowboy, this film tells the story of a rebellious teen sent to Philadelphia to live with his estranged father for the summer. While there, he finds kinship with a tight-knit community of Black cowboys based on the real-life Fletcher Street Stables.

PLEASE NOTE: This film is rated R for language, drugs, and violence, and may not be appropriate for younger viewers. Runtime 1 hour 51 minutes. RSVP here.

A League of Their Own (Rescheduled)

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH AT 8PM

There’s no crying in baseball, but there WILL be a screening of the 1992 spots comedy A League of Their Own! As America's stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest, funded by publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey. Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller spar with each other, with their teammates, and with their grumpy has-been coach Jimmy Dugan on their way to fame.

This film is rated PG for some crude humor and sexual innuendo. Runtime 2 hours and 8 minutes. RSVP here.
