  • Desire Under the Elms 
    • Eugene O'Neill’s 1924 tragedy about a stepson in love with his stepmother is reimagined in rural South Africa. Presented by Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and Performing Arts Department as      part of their Rankin Scholars in Residence program in collaboration with EgoPo Classic Theater.
      • When: Thursday, October 4th through Sunday, October 7th

  • Spin! is a design and art installation by MIO and University City District at the Porch on 30th Street Station. The installation will feature spinning seesaws and stools, ground artwork by MIO, an acrobatic dance performance by Pink Hair Affair, DJ Ben Arsenal at the turntables and drinks that will make your head whirl by Powers Whiskey. Spin is a part of DesignPhiladelphia

University City MIX Networking Event

 

  • University City District's networking event series MIX returns on Wednesday, October 17. This edition will be held at The Study at University City's vibrant and sophisticated "Living Room" lobby, and will include pay-as-you-go beverages and complimentary light fare. 
    • When: October 17th 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

  • Private Peaceful at Annenberg Center

    • From the writer of Broadway’s War Horse, this funny yet heart-breaking one-man play tours the U.S. for the first time, sharing the story of a young soldier reminiscing on his short but wonderful life before he faces a firing squad at dawn.

  • Arthur Miller's All My Sons at Curio Theatre

    • In All My Sons, by legendary American playwright Arthur Miller, Joe and Kate Keller are living a comfortable suburban life with their son Chris, but tragedy looms over the household. The Keller’s other son, Larry, went missing in action a few years earlier, leaving a void in the family. When Chris becomes involved with Larry’s former fiancé, Kate must finally accept that Larry is gone forever, and face the horrible truth about what caused his death.

  • Max Richter - American Contemporary Music Ensemble 
    • His music has a ubiquitous presence in dance, film and television. Now, electro-acoustic composer-pianist Max Richter makes his Philadelphia debut in a special evening of his seductive and achingly beautiful works.

  • Lancaster Avenue Day Festival
    • Celebrate the history and promise of Lancaster Avenue with a day of food, entertainment, vendors and more!

  • Show Your Stripes Celebration at Ronald McDonald House
    • The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House invites you to show your stripes at their annual birthday block party on October 15 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The annual event will feature friends, food, festivities, and Gritty, the new mascot for the Philadelphia Flyers. Guests are encouraged to wear striped items including sock monkeys, hats, bandannas, ties, or their famous socks. These items can all be purchased at the event. The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community of comfort and hope.

  • Garden Court Sip & See Saturdays
    • Garden Court Plaza is hosting a weekly Open House from 12-3pm, Sip & See Saturdays. Stop in for a tour of their newly renovated apartments and enjoy sipping on a complimentary mimosa as you SEE yourself living there.  

 


 

  • Greensgrow West Music Night
    • Join Greensgrow West for a night under the stars with live music from I Think Like Mighnight and Deep Sea Cannibal Killers. The event will also feature BBQ from What's on the Grill and beer from local brewery Dock Street.

  • HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy Open House

    • Parents, school administrators, therapists, medical professionals all welcome! Observe our programs and speak with our administrators faculty and students, talk with parents about their experiences with HMS, tour our residence, and see our cutting-edge assistive technology in action.

  • Soul Songs: Inspiring Women of Klezmer
    • One-night-only concert of 11 extraordinary women composer/performers, breathing new life into Eastern European Jewish folk music. Contemporary Yiddish culture takes center stage! Hosted by the Philadelphia Folklore Project.

  • The Spruce Hill Halloween Tot Parade
    • Be a part of an annual tradition! Bring your kids to join in the Tot Parade through West Philadelphia. Assemble your costumed tots on 45th between Baltimore and Larchwood from 4-4:30. The parade begins at 4:30 and proceeds along the normal route until ending up on the 4200 block of "Little Osage" for a Halloween block party.
