We are excited to announce two governance changes at University City District. John Grady has been unanimously elected to our Board of Directors as the new representative from Wexford Science + Technology, and Drexel’s Donald E. Moore has joined our Executive Committee after serving on our Board for the past year.

John Grady, the former President of PIDC and the newly named Northeast Region Executive at Wexford, joins the UCD Board after years of partnership and support. In his new role at Wexford, John develops relationships and executes projects that create and expand Wexford’s Knowledge Communities throughout the Northeast, including Philadelphia’s uCity Square, Providence’s Innovation & Design District, and Pittsburgh’s Innovation Corridor.

Prior to joining Wexford, John served as President of PIDC, Philadelphia’s city-wide public-private development corporation where he was responsible for efforts to drive economic growth to every corner of Philadelphia. Through his role at PIDC, John led PIDC’s efforts to strengthen relationships among the public, private, institutional and philanthropic sectors to promote business growth, investment, and development across the city and throughout its economy. John was a vocal champion of our West Philadelphia Skills Initiative, and was instrumental in facilitating the transformation of the 40th Street Trolley Portal. He directed activities around business development, capitalization, impact assessment, and the development and delivery of real estate and financing products that filled project financing gaps for neighborhood and large-scale commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments and delivered capital to growing businesses. Prior to joining PIDC, John spent 9 years with the Cooper’s Ferry Development Association planning and developing Camden, New Jersey’s commercial waterfront.

John replaces Wexford’s Joe Reagan on the UCD board, as Joe’s national real estate portfolio has shifted his work from a daily focus on the Philadelphia market. We thank Joe for his 5 ½ years of service and commitment to University City District.

Meanwhile, we’re also pleased to welcome Drexel’s Donald E. Moore to our Executive Committee. Donald, who serves as Drexel’s Vice President for Real Estate and Facilities, has proven himself an invaluable member of UCD’s Board of Directors since joining in July of 2019.

At Drexel, Donald is responsible for providing strategic master planning, general management, and professional direction for all of Drexel University's buildings and properties. He maintains oversight of real estate operations; environmental health and safety; planning, design, and construction; lease management; and transportation. Donald also serves as the President of Academic Properties, Inc., Drexel's wholly-owned, non-profit real estate subsidiary.

Donald has over 35 years of experience in facilities and operations management, master planning, real estate development, and executive leadership. He serves on the boards of several community and development organizations in the region aside from UCD, including Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia and the Urban Land Institute's University Development & Innovation Council and Philadelphia Advisory Board. Donald earned a bachelor of science degree in Construction Management/Civil Engineering from Bradley University and an MBA from Stockton University.
