Penn Medicine courting them in Baltimore

The University of Pennsylvania Health System is trying to woo Baltimore-area residents battling cancer and late-stage heart disease with its first ad campaign in Maryland.

Penn Medicine’s campaign speaks directly to potential patients with the message that life-saving therapies are just 90 miles away in Philadelphia.

A Penn Medicine spokeswoman said the commercials on WBAL Radio started yielding calls from potential patients only days after debuting recently. Suzanne Sawyer, chief marketing officer for Penn Medicine, said it made sense for the hospital to target Baltimore because many people already make the trek up Interstate 95 for health care.
