The University of Pennsylvania, The Rotunda, and University City District (UCD) are teaming up to bring a slate of free entertainment to the beautiful green space just behind the Walnut Street Free Library at 40th and Walnut Streets. On Saturday, July 25th, we are teaming with the University of Pennsylvania and the Rotunda to transform the green space behind the Walnut Street Free Library at 40th and Walnut into a free, family-friendly evening of entertainment for the entire community to enjoy.

The evening will feature live music performances from Mixed People, Red Cedar Strings, and Au Jus. Kids can learn to play the drums during a percussion workshop by Styx Latte, make masks with Brian Bazemore, and receive martial art lessons. The night will also feature trapeze, juggling, and tight wire acts from the Give & Take Jugglers, dancing and hula hooping from Bujee Magoo, a puppet display from Donna Oblongata, and performances from fire dancers and balloon artists. Ben & Jerry’s and Philly Pretzel Factory will also give out free samples while supplies last. The fun runs from 5-8pm.

Next month features the Sun Ra Arkestra on August 29th, followed by a special screening of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in October. More details at: http://universitycity.org/40th-street-summer-series.
