Philadelphia's street-sweeping pilot program is set to expand to certain neighborhoods in Philadelphia, including some areas of our community. Beginning April 4th, 14 pilot areas will begin seeing regular street-sweepers cleaning their neighborhoods, and six of these areas will begin receiving fines of $31 for cars that do not move during posted sweeping times beginning in May.

The Streets Department plans to use a staggered schedule, allowing residents to park on one side of the block and then move to the other side, alternating every two hours, to clear the streets for the operation of the sweeping vehicles. The city also plans to launch a web-based map called SweepPHL that will allow residents to track and monitor the path of the mechanical brooms through their neighborhoods and let them plan accordingly with parked cars.

Street cleaning within our boundaries during this pilot, reflected on the map below, will be:

  • Woodland Avenue to Kingsessing Avenue from 49th Street to Cemetery Avenue
  • Parkside Avenue to Spring Garden Street from 52nd Street to 40th Street
