Take Another Little Pita my Heart
One of my favorite things about this University City is the lunch trucks. While New York seems to only be able to handle hot dogs and roasted nuts, University City has a lunch truck for everything. Yesterday I moseyed over to Marrakesh Express on 40th & Locust. I couldn’t tell if the crowd around the truck was there because it was actually that delicious, or if it was simply because the surrounding trucks were already closed. But let me say…
I ordered a Lamb and Beef Shawarma, a Philly Cheesesteak Shwarma, two orders of Moroccan Fries, Mint Tea, and two orders of baklava- all for $20. Don’t worry, I had some help eating all of that. I was hesitant about the Philly Cheesesteak-ification of a Shwarma sandwich, but after hearing the people in line behind me rave about how good it was I decided I had to give it a shot. It was definitely good, but the clear winner of the meal, by a landslide, was the baklava. That baklava could definitely get me through a few classes. It’s that good.
Make sure you don’t miss out on the “fries” which are actually more like heavily spiced, cubed potato, bundles of joy. The second these people decide to open a restaurant, I’ll be making reservations.
