Celebrate Juneteenth in West Philadelphia

Discover ways to celebrate Juneteenth in our neighborhood!

Parade float during West Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. What began in Texas has grown into a nationwide tradition, and here in Philadelphia, it’s a chance to honor the city’s deep-rooted Black history and culture. We’re proud to celebrate Juneteenth through music, dance, food, and community right here in our neighborhood.
