UCD INVITES ALL TO PERFORM ON FOUR SITE-SPECIFIC PIANOS DECORATED BY JOE BUROCHOW AND TEMPORARILY INSTALLED IN CLARK PARK

(Philadelphia, PA) – University City District is pleased to announce the return of Heart & Soul: The University City Public Piano Project. Join UCD on Thursday, June 6 at 3pm in Clark Park, 43rd Street and Baltimore Avenue, for the opening celebration of Heart & Soul. UCD will be providing complimentary Little Baby’s Ice Cream (while supplies last) and celebrating the kickoff of the Thursday Clark Park Farmers’ Market.

From June 6-16, 2013, UCD will present Heart & Soul, an interactive public art exhibition featuring four artist-decorated pianos – this time all in Clark Park, the heart of University City. At once visual art and performance art, Heart & Soul invites musicians of all backgrounds to share their creativity through impromptu public performances. Philadelphia-based artist Joe Boruchow, whose work originates from delicate black paper cutouts, was chosen to visually re-interpret the pianos, transforming each into a unique site-specific piece of visual art.

The Thursday Clark Park Farmers’ Market, which runs from 3-7pm every Thursday beginning June 6, will feature the first cherries of the season from Frecon Farms, breads and pies from Big Sky Bakery, greens and herbs from Homestead Garden, Made in the Shade Lemonade, new food truck additions Mini Trini and Local215, and much more.
