(Philadelphia, PA) – Youcie, the University City young friends group, is kicking off the fall with a number of special events including those at some of the hottest spots in University City. Whether you’re a student, professional or neighbor, Youcie is here to help you connect, interact with and explore University City’s diverse cultural, social and community service offerings. Membership is free and open to those 21 years and older. Upcoming Youcie events through 2011 include:


Tuesday, October 18, 6pm

International House’s “Culture & Cuisine: India”

Tandoor India, 106 S. 40th Street | $25 per person

Join Youcie for dinner and explore the wonderful diversity and culinary treasures of Philadelphia. The restaurant has selected a delectable and inspired menu for you to dine on while learning about the food and culture of India. All are welcome and encouraged to bring friends. Come and experience new tastes from around the world!

Thursday, October 20, 6:30pm

"Double Feature" with City Tap House and the Philadelphia Film Festival

6:30–7:30pm | Beer and food tasting at City Tap House, 3925 Walnut Street

8pm | 20th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival at Annenberg Center’s Zellerbach Theater

$25 per person. Ticket price includes a one hour reception at City Tap House and one movie ticket to the opening night screening of Like Crazy. Limit 25 people. You must be 21 or older to attend this event.

Be treated like royalty when you join Youcie members in the tasting room at City Tap House for a selection of craft beers, wine, pizza and wings. Following the reception, guests will head over to the Annenberg Center for reserved seats for the opening film of the 2011 Philadelphia Film Festival. "Heroween" Celebration

City Tap House, 3925 Walnut Street | $10 per person

Join Youcie for an evening of beer, costumes, and fun! Enjoy the ghoulish atmosphere of the City Tap House at the 1st annual Heroween event to benefit the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. Featuring DJ, dancing, raffle and a Halloween fashion show. There will be prizes for best costume, best team costume, and highest fundraiser. Sign-up for a costume or make a donation and enter for free! Otherwise, a $10 donation will be collected at the door.

Youcie Honeyed Happy Hour: Brewery Tour with Honey & Beer Tasting

Dock Street Brewing Company, 701 South 50th Street

Honey and beer = the perfect pair! Join Youcie for a special happy hour at Dock Street Brewing Company and discover the flavors of local honey and beer together! Enjoy $4 house brews from 5pm to 7pm and $2.50 appetizer bites from 5pm to 6pm. After the happy hour we’ll take an exclusive tour of Dock Street and taste their brews along with Milk and Honey’s Urban Apiaries honey.

Champions of the Dance

Celebrate the holidays with a ballroom dance extravaganza! Starring ten blockbuster champions, including Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya from ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” this performance highlights sexy Latin and tango rhythms, the frantic energy of swing and everything in between. Plus, come early for demos in the lobby before each performance! Orchestra level tickets are only $35 (regularly $52!).
