Our partners from SEPTA have shared details about a trolley track renewal project on Lancaster Avenue Street that will impact people traveling through our community in two phases this summer, starting with welding from July 7th through July 11th before a larger project begins August 10th, 2025.

Beginning Monday, July 7th, SEPTA in-house crews will be welding rail strings in advance of a more comprehensive trolley track renewal project. The rail welding will be performed on the southern side of Lancaster Avenue between 40th Street and Wallace Street. The work is expected to run from 7 AM to 3 PM from Monday July 7th through Friday, July 11th. Parking restrictions will be in place during the week–please pay attention to posted signs. SEPTA service on Lancaster Avenue will not be impacted during the work.

Once completed, the rail strings will be secured and staged until August 10, 2025, when SEPTA in-house forces begin the excavation and renewal of the existing corroded and broken rail on Lancaster Avenue between 40th Street and Spring Garden Street. That project is expected to wrap up on September 13, 2025
