Designed by Julian Abele, a prominent African American architect from Philadelphia who worked in Horace Trumbauer’s firm, the Parkway Central Library first opened its doors on June 2, 1927. As an anchor cultural and educational institution on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, we welcome over 1 million visitors each year from the city, its countryside, and around the world. Our patrons come to learn from our public events, to consult our special collections, and to tap the expertise of our librarians and curators in each of the subject departments and special collections. On most days, volunteer docents offer architectural walks through the building.

The Beer Garden at uCity Square is a lively, seasonal pop-up outdoor bar located at The Lawn near 37th and Cuthbert Streets in Philadelphia, PA. The space is operated by Two Locals Brewing Company, which is proud to be Philadelphia’s first Black-owned brewery.

The Famous Cookie Creamery was founded in June 2019 when these longtime “neighbors” in the Reading Terminal Market decided to bring their specialty cookie ice cream sandwich to the Wildwood Boardwalk. The Famous Creamery signature novelty is an ice cream cookie sandwich: Fans can choose any combination of two cookies and their favorite flavor of ice cream to create a unique delicious treat.

Two Locals Brewing Company is a landmark destination in Philadelphia, proudly serving as the city’s first Black-owned brewery.
