The Soapbox: Community Print Shop & Zine Library

4542 Baltimore Ave

The Soapbox, who you may have seen offering prints at the Dollar Stroll this June, is moving this summer from 47th and Kingsessing to a larger, more accessible space at 4542 Baltimore Ave, where it will more than double its artist studios and expand programming for letterpress, screen print, risograph, and other book and paper arts. Founded in 2011 as a zine library and basement studio, the West Philly community hub has launched a $50,000 fundraising campaign to support renovations and its next chapter on Baltimore Avenue.

Cappelli’s Bros. Cheesesteaks

3025 Market Street 

Open now at Gather Food Hall, Philadelphia-born Cappelli’s Bros. Cheesesteaks serves a menu centered around classic cheesesteaks alongside loaded fries, protein bowls, and house specialties designed for quick lunches, dinners and late-night bites. Menu highlights include steak and chicken cheesesteaks, buffalo chicken fries, cheesesteak-loaded fries, and vegetarian options.

Monarch Yoga

3421 Walnut Street  

This summer, Monarch Yoga will be opening its University City location at 34th and Walnut. If you’ve been to their Kensington or Northern Liberties locations, this space will feel familiar—just with its own University City energy. You can expect: A large, sunlit studio space, a very spacious lobby to settle into before and after class, showers for a post-flow reset, and a full schedule of classes each week.

Love & Honey

4060 Chestnut Street

Soon, Love & Honey Fried Chicken will open its University City store at 41st and Chestnut. Love & Honey Fried Chicken has become a Philadelphia favorite, receiving local and national praise in the press. Their chicken is hand-breaded and fried to order, with love in every bite.

The Learning Experience

4224 Baltimore Avenue

The Learning Experience in University City is now open at 4224 Baltimore Ave. At The Learning Experience, children at their preschool in follow their proprietary L.E.A.P.® Curriculum, featuring handson activities that nurture intellectual, social, and cognitive skills so every child can learn, play and grow.

Barakat Chicken

4251 Walnut Street

Barakat Chicken will be opening soon at 43rd and Walnut, offering halal foods including their specialtychicken shawarma. The new restaurant will be in the mix of other neighborhood favorite halal options, and boasts bold, authentic dishes. Get ready for juicy, flavorful chicken made fresh and served hot.

Root and Sprig

Known for its chef-driven creativity, inspiring meals, and memorable hospitality experience, Root and Sprig is redefining healthy eating for busy lifestyles. The new Root and Sprig concept will be their largest to date, and first in Philadelphia offering the full fine fast-casual experience with seating service hospitality in their own designated cafe, fueling body and spirit for healthcare workers, the university community and beyond.

Mango Mango

3643 Lancaster Avenue

Dessert chain Mango Mango has officially opened its University City restaurant at 3643 Lancaster Ave., making this their third location in Philly. Their menu boasts creative ways to enjoy mango, such as options with ice cream, lychee, sticky rice, and more. Mango, the restaurant says, is more than a fruit to them — it’s their muse and a celebration of life.

The Enerjuicer

3401 Walnut Street

Franklin’s Table Food Hall has welcomed The Enerjuicer to their food court, giving students and local residents a new healthy destination. The Enerjuicer offers cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and acai bowls, all of which the restaurant says is made up of only fresh, natural fruits and vegetables. Just pick your combo and let the folks at The Enerjuicer bring your vision to life right before your eyes.

Port Coffee

4013 Walnut Street

Soon, Port Coffee will be taking over the space previously used by Metropolitan Bakery at 4013 Walnut St. At Port, you’ll find handcrafted beverages, seasonal creations, and pastries of all kinds. The Yemeni coffee company aims to provide freshly roasted coffee that connects you to its roots and honors the journey the beans made, from soil, to harvest, to cup.

Blank Street Coffee

3603 Walnut Street

Opening at 3603 Walnut Street, the new 3,500 square foot location marks Blank Street’s first in Philadelphia. The café will bring a thoughtfully curated lineup of globally sourced coffee and specialty matcha beverages, such as the fan favorite Strawberry Shortcake Matcha and the Shaken Vanilla Bean Cold Brew Latte.
