We are continually improving the user experience and applying relevant accessibility standards.

Accessibility Statement

What are we doing?

To help make the University City District website a positive experience for everyone, we have been testing our site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, which explains how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level A as the target for the University City District website. We are aware that some of our site does not conform to these standards. We have identified these areas of improvement to better assist our users. These areas are listed under the heading “How are we doing?”.

How are we doing?

We are working hard to achieve and maintain our goal of Level A accessibility; we realize, however, that there are still some areas that need improvement. The UCD website was audited by an accessibility professional at our external web vendor who identified inaccessible aspects of our site. We will prioritize those issues that have the highest impact for most users.

  • You may find images around our site that are “decorative” but do not provide an empty alt attribute.
  • You may find images around our site that do not provide alternative text, when they should.
  • There are no text equivalents for some of our infographics.
  • Our menu, as well as other areas of the site, are not optimized to keyboard-only use.
  • Our site is not responsive, and some may find it hard to use when magnified or at a fixed orientation.
  • While the PDF viewer we use on our site is not compatible with screen readers, many of our PDFs are.
  • There are elements, particularly links, that do not meet color contrast requirements.
