Summer Events in University City!

Each summer University City District partners with local businesses, restaurants, organizations and performers to present a robust schedule of free and fun events throughout University City. Make sure to mark your calendars with these dates and details so you don't miss our exciting programming for Summer 2019!


University City Dining Days returns to the neighborhood this year from Thursday, July 18h through Sunday, July 28th. Dining Days is our “3 Courses, 3 Prices” promotion at many of University City’s most popular dining destinations. We’re excited to welcome first time participants like new Mediterranean-influenced restaurant The Common, Argentine empanada shop Jezabel’s Cafe, upscale sandwiches from KQ Burger, and more! New for 2019: For the first time in 2019, many restaurants will be offering lunch options for Dining Days!


The 40th Street Summer Series, co-produced by University City District, Penn, and The Rotunda, will be moving to a brand-new location just down the block with the same eclectic, fun shows you’ve come to know and love. The performances will now be held at 39th and Walnut Streets, just near Locust Walk. Save the date for June 15th, July 13th, and August 17th for three nights of fun! The Summer Series is hosted by Negus Frost.

New for 2019: A new location for the popular neighborhood event!


UCD, in partnership with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Friends of Clark Park, will once again present Movies in Clark Park, four Fridays of free outdoor movies running from August 9th through August 30th. The films will be screened beginning at sundown in the Clark Park bowl during fair weather. Bring a blanket or chair, grab a snack from one of the onsite food trucks, and join the fun!

  • Crazy Rich Asians on August 16th

  • Creed II on August 23rd

  • Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on August 30th

Keep an eye on our Movies in Clark Park page for updates on programming and partnerships! Movies are shown in fair weather only. The rain date for a movie canceled due to weather will be September 20th. 


The Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll, presented in association with the Baltimore Avenue Business Association (BABA), will return on June 6th and September 12th from 5:30 to 8:30pm. During this unique event, University City's Baltimore Avenue between 43rd and 52nd Streets showcases its charm with $1 bargains from neighborhood favorites. Grab everything from bites from signature restaurants to pet supplies to theater tickets and much more. Read more about participating vendors for the June 6th Dollar Stroll. Details for the September Dollar Stroll will be available later this summer!  New for 2019: For the first time we’re welcoming community merchandise vendors to sell unique wares at the Dollar Stroll as official participants! 
Enjoy free programming at UCD's two main public spaces, The Porch at 30th Street Station and the brand-new Trolley Portal Gardens!

The Porch features daily rotating food trucks each weekday for lunch (plus Thursdays for breakfast). Starting in June we'll be bringing in lunchtime pop-up performances, beginning with Magdaliz & Her Latin Ensemble Crisol on June 4th. Our outdoor beer garden the Pub at The Porch will return in June, along with an exciting new space to recharge and relax. Click here to stay up-to-date on the schedule!

Starting June 4th, we're bringing food trucks and activities to Trolley Portal Gardens, our new public space at 40th and Baltimore, on Tuesday nights! Enjoy food from some of our favorite vendors, plus a mix of free music and family-friendly activities. Click here to learn more.


University City MIX, our networking happy hour event, visits popular dining and drinking establishments throughout the neighborhood. Our next edition of MIX will be held at The Common  (3601 Market) on May 23rd. MIX is free to attend, but RSVPs are encouraged. RSVP here
