ArtStart is the Parent Infant Center’s biggest event of the year in support of the Tuition Assistance Fund. It is held each October to help maintain a diversity of income levels of enrolled families.

Deaf experience is inherently multimodal: it can involve many different forms of communication, including visual and physio-spatial practices that diverge from common cultural expectations for spoken language. In this talk, Rachel Kolb, the author of the recent memoir Articulate: A Deaf Memoir of Voice (Ecco, 2025), will recount stories from a life spent practicing various types of articulation, both in English and in American Sign Language (ASL). Through her lived experiences as well as through the process of writing this book, Kolb has come to understand deafness as a source of insight, one that can deepen our analysis of the stakes of human connection, as well as illuminate more equitable and flexible ways of shaping our relationships with others. Pioneering gender and queer theorist Professor Jack Halberstam will elaborate upon the main contributions of this new book and suggest some areas for future research in relation to practices of unbuilding, undoing, and dismantling. Alonzo King LINES Ballet brings its thought-provoking dance to Philadelphia, performing two critically acclaimed original works by master choreographer Alonzo King. Attendees will experience *LEGACY*, a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning esperanza spalding featuring her original score and exploring themes of lineage, alongside *Ode to Alice Coltrane*, a vibrant piece created as a tribute to the iconic musician’s legacy. These performances showcase King’s unique artistic vision, advancing the classical form through deeply human experiences praised as “kinetically brilliant” and “a rare kind of magic” that “lifts us to a higher bliss.”

The All-College Choir is a non-auditioned, mixed voice ensemble that sings choral repertoire of many styles, genres and eras, including music of the classical tradition, jazz, spirituals, American Musical Theater, folk, and pop.

The group is open to all Drexel University students and may be taken for credit or non-credit. The choir will develop basic principles of choral singing. The All-College Choir meets Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.

For 2026, as a nod to the 250^th anniversary of America, we’ll be screening four films tied to the theme of “Freedom.” We asked the community to help us decide, and after tallying 100s of votes, we’re pleased to share this year’s lineup and schedule!

Movies are screened at dusk in the Clark Park bowl during fair weather. We’re reserving Friday, September 4th, 2026 as a rain date to show one film if needed.

Join us Friday, August 28th for a screening of The Matrix. The film will be screened beginning at sundown (approximately 8:20 PM) in the Clark Park bowl during fair weather. Bring a blanket or chair and join the fun!

In The Matrix, a computer hacker learns from mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against its controllers. Starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, and Hugo Weaving. This film is rated R for sci-fi violence and mild language, runtime of 2 hours and 16 minutes.

Whether you are an aspiring creator, a seasoned professional, or simply looking to spark fresh inspiration, this free event provides the perfect hub to elevate your art and collaborate with the local creative community!

Come join us for a day of fun at our WEST POWELTON SAUNDERS PARK FALL FLING, Saturday, September 20th from 10am to 4pm! We will have live entertainment, food, music, vendors and representatives from community organizations, plus contests & activities for all ages! THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE at SAUNDERS PARK, 300-50 SAUNDERS AVE. Setup for the event will begin at 8am, and cleanup will conclude at 5pm. The event is free to attend. All vendors and participants will be responsible for cleaning up their own areas. Members of the community are welcome to set up flea market tables, and local vendors are welcome. As this is our second year doing this event, community members and vendors are welcome to set up tables FREE OF CHARGE.
