PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A unique art exhibit is underway in University City over the next 10 days.

Eight artist-decorated pianos are being displayed throughout the city for an interactive public art exhibition. Mark Christman with the University City District says the working pianos will be on display through June 17th.

“This is Heart and Soul: The University City Public Piano Project. It’s a public art installation and a sort of performance art installation at once.”

Kuznits: “Where are the pianos going to be displayed?”

“The Porch here at 30th Street Station, The Plaza in front of the Radian, University City Square on Penn’s campus, Drexel University near the big dragon, Locust Walk on Penns Campus, Clark Park, 37th Street pedestrian plaza and Drexel Park.”

He says if you see a piano out in the open, you’re invited to sit down and play:

“I think it’s already drawn a lot of attention. Lots of people have already come up and started playing them.”
