Join UCD and Others in Aiding Families in Need at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House
In late March, 2020, University City District sponsored a local restaurant to prepare dinner for 120 residents at our beloved Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, which houses families with seriously ill children who are undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Ronald McDonald House – UCD’s neighbor on Chestnut Street - can no longer welcome volunteers to prepare meals for guests, while local restaurants face devastating economic losses. We set out to simultaneously support restaurants and families in need. A long-time donor liked the idea and wrote a check for $10,000. Then another added $1,000, and yet another $5,000.
As of today, May 7th, we have reached the numbers in the chart above. From small ripples come big waves. Those interested in making contributions - 100% of which go toward buying meals for families in a time of stress - can do so by noting “Ronald McDonald House meals” in the Special Purpose box of the UCD donation form at the link below. Each $50 donation buys one meal for a family of four and supports a local eatery. Thank you for your consideration.
